Flagler to offer personal finance and business workshops during inauguration week

Flagler College will hold a day of personal finance and business workshops for the community on Feb. 17 focusing on topics like starting a small business, investing basics and estate planning.
The workshops will take place during a week of community-focused events celebrating the inauguration of Dr. Joseph G. Joyner as the fourth president of Flagler College.
Events are free and open to the public, and will take place in Flagler College’s Ringhaver Student Center at 50 Sevilla St. in downtown St. Augustine. The workshops and panels will be led by Flagler faculty and alumni who specialize on the topics.
The schedule on Saturday, Feb. 17, includes:
9 a.m. - Selling Ideas - Jorge Herrera, director of Adult and Continuing Education and associate professor of Business Administration
9 a.m.-12 p.m. – Individual income tax questions answered by Jeff Knight, assistant professor of Accounting, and CPA Bill Mayer.
9:30 a.m. – From Cradle to College: Saving and Paying for College – Mitchell Walk, Retirement Wealth Specialists, and Sheia Pleasant-Doine, director of Financial Aid
9:45 a.m. - Starting a Small Business - Paula Holanchock, assistant professor of Business Administration
10:30 a.m. - Investing in Basics - Brett Blazevich, assistant professor of Finance
11:15 a.m. - Setting Strategy to Organizational Values - Thomas (Doc) DeLaughter, assistant professor of Business Administration
10:30 a.m. – Financial Workshop Panel with guest speakers speaking on a variety of financial topics ranging from estate planning to business strategies. Panelists include Ken Kresge, Ben Platt, Bill Abare III, Tyler Tebault and Charlene Hadjis.
