Flagler College’s 2018 Giving Day a success with increased participation

May 15, 2018

Flagler College hosted its third annual Giving Day on Tuesday, May 8 with record-breaking results.

This year’s goal focused on increasing the number of participants to over 200 in order that the college would receive a $10k grant from an anonymous graduate. In total, 397 individuals participated, which exceeds last year’s participation by 174 donors. Alumni givers made up 69% of the total participation.

Assistant Director of Development Jeff Davitt ’07 said, “We set a new goal that was focused on participation and the Flagler Community came out in force with a record number of gifts in one day. We are so thankful for the support these gifts will provide to our students and programs.”

This year, supporters were able to choose an area for their donation. The Flagler Fund – Greatest Need – was the most selected area. The most common gift amount was $25, but the average amount was $143.

Some successful elements of this year’s campaign was increased social media participation, the Alumni Board and Parents Council’s coordination of peer-to-peer fundraising, as well as a campaign video produced by Assistant Professor of Communications Tracey Eaton.

Giving Day thank you 2018

“Giving Day has been a huge success, thanks to the many alumni and donors who participated,” said Vice President for Institutional Advancement Beverly Carmichael, Ed.D. “This is the first thing that is evaluated by those determining the college’s rankings – the alumni and donor participation. We are grateful for the participation and generosity by so many great supporters!”
