Two students from Flagler College - Tallahassee will travel to San Antonio, Texas in June to compete against more than 1,800 of America’s best and brightest college students at the Phi Beta Lambda (PBL) National Leadership Conference. This will be the college’s second national showing in the three years since the chapter was formed.

Daniel Bailey, Jessica Bailey, Maria Joyner and Erin LaPointe recently competed in the Florida State competition. Daniel Bailey, business administration major, placed 3rd in Business Communication. The students moving on to the national competition are as follows:

Maria Joyner (Accounting Major)

1st place in Administrative Technology

2nd place in Forensic Accounting

2nd place in Desktop Publishing

Erin LaPointe (Accounting Major)

1st place in Personal Finance

1st place in Management Concepts

3rd place in Marketing Concepts

“This is the second year our students have won at state and have earned this opportunity,” said Kim Bianco, the FBLA-PBL Chapter Adviser. “They have represented Flagler College with flying colors!”

The awards are part of a comprehensive national competitive events program sponsored by FBLA-PBL that recognizes and rewards excellence in a broad range of business and career-related areas. For many students, the competitive events are the capstone activity of their academic careers. In addition to competitions, students immersed themselves in interactive workshops, visited an information-packed exhibit hall, and heard from motivational keynotes on a broad range of business topics.
