    Flagler College and the United States Citizenship and Immigration Services will hold a Naturalization Ceremony on Feb. 21 in the Lewis Auditorium for approximately 50 individuals as part of the college’s Inaugural Week for new President Dr. Joseph G. Joyner.

    Flagler College to host annual St. Augustine Film Festival

    Beginning Jan. 18 and running through Jan. 21, Flagler College will play host to the Saint Augustine Film Festival, featuring films from Syria, Georgia, Afghanistan, Poland, Estonia, Trinidad and Tobago, and the United States, among others.

    The Crisp-Ellert Art Museum and Flagler College are pleased to announce "A Tondo for Rajon Rondo," an exhibition of recent work by Jibade-Khalil Huffman, including video, photography and sculpture. The exhibition will kick off with an artist talk on Friday, Jan. 19 at 5 p.m. in the Gamache-Koger Theater in the Ringhaver Student Center on the Flagler campus, followed by an opening reception from 6 to 7:30 p.m.

    Ideas and Images presentation to focus on Russian women and the Great War

    Flagler College’s Ideas and Images lecture series will host Dr. Laurie S. Stoff, Senior Honors Faculty Fellow at Barrett, The Honors College at Arizona State University, for a talk on “American Women and the Russian Revolution Then and Now” on Jan. 24 at 7 p.m. in the Flagler Room of Ponce de Leon Hall, 74 King St.

    Flagler student wins Lighthouse and Maritime Museum logo design

    A winner has been chosen from among 34 submissions from Flagler College Professor Natalie Stephenson’s design classes for a new food concept at the St. Augustine Lighthouse & Maritime Museum. Lauren Curtis’ torpedo design will be the logo for the Tin Pickle Local Gedunk, a snack counter in the newly restored World War II Garage, recently unveiled during the Museum’s Grand Opening in September.

    Nicholas Johnston, one of the founding editors of online media company Axios, will speak at Flagler College’s Forum on Government and Public Policy on Thursday, Feb. 8, about the complexities of building a media company during the Trump presidency.

    High school students from across the nation and our state will have the opportunity to learn about the academic disciplines of the humanities at Flagler College, specifically focused on St. Augustine, thanks to a $20,000 grant from the Florida Humanities Council.
  • Flagler College Named a 2017-2018 Military Friendly School

    Institutions earning the Military Friendly School designation were evaluated using both public data sources and responses from Victory Media’s proprietary survey. For the first time, student survey data was taken into consideration for the designation. More than 1,300 schools participated in the 2017-2018 survey with 849 receiving the designation.

    Flagler College’s Women of Vision Advisory Board, which provides scholarships and opportunities for women who attend the college, welcomed six new members recently. They include Robin Borland, Letti Bozard, Araan Burnett, Lisa Chismark, Paula Fallon and Susan Joyner.

    Another college milestone as first master's graduates receive diplomas

    Three students receiving diplomas at Flagler’s fall graduation ceremony represented a major milestone for the college: the first students to graduate from the Deaf and Hard of Hearing Master’s Program. The college’s first master’s program was launched in 2016 as a distance-learning program, and Mary Catherine Serfilippi, Miranda McMillan Slusser, and Olivia Grace Williams joined more than 180 undergraduate students for the commencement on Dec. 9.

    Local franchisees from one of the fastest growing fitness gyms in the country, Orangetheory Fitness, partnered with Flagler College Professor Leslie Gordon to offer her Consumer Behavior students internships at the end of the semester. Gordon’s Consumer Behavior class is a senior-level marketing course that blends studies of Psychology, Sociology, Anthropology, and Communication.

    Flagler College’s Vocal Arts will hold its Winter Concert on Wednesday, Dec. 6, at 7 p.m. in the Rotunda of the college’s Ponce de Leon Hall, 74 King St. The performance will include an eclectic mix of traditional and holiday choral music in various styles.
