NFL star Doug Flutie to speak at Flagler College’s Athletics scholarship banquet in March
Jan 19Former NFL quarterback and Heisman Trophy recipient Doug Flutie will speak on the importance of being a student athlete, as this year’s keynote speaker for Flagler College’s annual Crimson & Gold Athletics Banquet on Friday, March 24. The banquet, which was originally scheduled in October but had to be rescheduled due to Hurricane Matthew, will be held in Flagler’s elegant dining room in Ponce Hall. The event starts at 6 p.m. with a social and a silent auction and dinner following at 7 p.m. -
Religion scholar to discuss Boston-based Nazi conspiracy of late 1930s in upcoming talk
Jan 19Boston College Associate Professor of History Dr. Charles Gallagher will be discussing his in-depth investigation of a Boston-based Nazi conspiracy at the start of World War II, during a talk at Flagler College on Monday, Feb. 6. His lecture, titled “Espionage and Anti-Semitism: Nazi and British Intelligence in Wartime Boston” is part of the Cecile and Gene Usdin Judeo-Christian lecture series. -
Renovation begins on new Alumni House at Flagler College
Jan 19Flagler College alumni will soon have a place to call home on-campus. Anderson Cottage, located at 48 Sevilla St. and between the Proctor Library and the Crisp-Ellert Art Museum, will be transformed into a central meeting hub for local and visiting alumni. -

Jan 17Dr. Gregory Hawkins has been hired as Flagler College’s new director of Institutional Research and Effectiveness, bringing more than two decades of experience in analyzing data and improving institutional operations in higher education to the position. He succeeds Dr. Will Miller, who recently stepped down to join university software and assessment company Campus Labs. -

Jan 6This year’s 7th annual St. Augustine Film Festival, held between Jan. 20 and Jan. 22, will feature 40 films from 20 countries, including the short film “Jordan Almonds” produced by Flagler College screenwriting instructor Lorraine Portman. -
College's new parking facility to open Jan. 5
Jan 3Flagler College’s new parking garage will be open for students, faculty, and staff beginning Thursday, Jan. 5. The new five-level facility will add approximately 500 new parking spaces on campus and provide covered parking for over 200 bicycles. The garage was constructed on property that was being used as an unimproved parking lot, located between the existing FEC Railway buildings and the City of St. Augustine fire station on Malaga Street.
