Mar 28Flagler College's online student newspaper, The Gargoyle, won six awards in the Society of Professional Journalists regional 2017 Mark of Excellence Awards, including winning for Best Independent Online Student Publication. Flagler Communication student Jessie Rowan was also a finalist in Feature Photography. -

Tinlin House becomes new counseling center to Flagler College
Mar 8On March 6, 2018, the Tinlin House opened as Flagler College’s new Counseling Center. The facility is named after Judge Charles J. Tinlin and Mary Tinlin, Flagler’s Associate Director of Counseling. The Tinlin House will hold four offices, a reception area, a kitchen, and two group rooms. -
Flagler students win big at the 2018 "ADDY" awards
Mar 8Flagler College took home 11 American Advertising Federation-Jacksonville (AAF) “ADDY” awards on Feb. 17, including Caitlyn Rees’ “Student Best in Show: Design” win and Nancy Harms’ “Student Best in Show: Advertising” win. The highly-recognized awards honor advertising and creative excellence. -

Professor Barbara Blonder's article recently published in "Castanea"
Mar 5Associate Professor of Natural Sciences Barbara Blonder's research has recently been published in the peer-reviewed scientific journal, “Castanea”. Blonder conducted her research on “Assessing Postfire Vegetative Changes and Implications for Management in a Northeast Florida Coastal Strand Ecosystem”. -
Theatre Arts Students Competed at Kennedy Center American College Theatre Festival
Mar 5At this year’s Kennedy Center American College Theatre Festival (KCACTF), Flagler College’s Theatre Arts students Zach Racine and Elijah Eyerly made it to the final round of the competition. This regional festival features over 250 actors to compete in scenes and monologues over the course of a week until several cuts are made narrowing the field to 16 performers. -

Kozlowski to give a lecture on textiles as it relates to the women's labor movement
Feb 28Flagler College welcomes Independent Curator Elizabeth Kozlowski for her lecture, "Woman Against the Machine," on March 7 at 6 p.m. in the Gamache Koger Theatre in the Ringhaver Student Center, 50 Sevilla St. Kozlowski's lecture will investigate the industrialization of textiles; its relationship to the development of the labor movement in the United States; and its enduring influence on the field of contemporary fiber arts. -

Flagler College students Reach Out with day of community service

Corry named artistic director for summer's 'Horn in the West'
Feb 15As the technical director for the auditorium and Theatre Department here at Flagler College, Britt Corry is used to overseeing all the workings associated with a theatre’s stage operations. This summer, he will take his 24 years of experience on the road for the summer when he takes over as artistic director for the outdoor drama “Horn in the West” in Boone, NC. -
Olivia Block's site-specific sound installation to be unveiled at Crisp-Ellert
Feb 12Artist and musician Olivia Block’s forthcoming exhibition, “Four Channels,” will be a collaboration between the Crisp-Ellert Art Museum at Flagler College and the Guana Tolomato Matanzas National Estuarine Research Reserve (GTMNERR). The exhibition will include two site-specific sound installations. The first will open at GTMNERR (also known as GTM Research Reserve) on Feb. 23, in conjunction with their State of the Reserve Symposium, and will continue through March 2. CEAM’s presentation will kick off with a walkthrough of the exhibition on March 2 at 4 p.m., followed by an opening reception from 5 to 8 p.m. The exhibition will continue through April 14. -
Women of Vision’s Fourth Annual Power of the Purse announced for May 17
Feb 12Flagler College’s Women of Vision Advisory Board will host its fourth annual Power of the Purse® luncheon on May 17, 2018. The event will include a silent auction of purses, followed by a luncheon and program in the college’s historic Ponce de Leon Hall. The funds raised will support scholarships and educational opportunities for women attending Flagler College. -
