Visitors to Flagler Field will be treated to a radical change this spring. Where there was once a dirt lot for cars and the barest facilities, fans and athletes attending baseball, soccer and softball matches will now find paved parking and the new Flagler Field Locker Room Facility.

Construction began in 2010 on the complex, which is on Old Moultrie Road, just a couple miles from the main campus in downtown St. Augustine.

The facility, which opened this spring, houses four locker rooms — one for each of Flagler’s two soccer teams, one for baseball and the other for softball. Also included are a training room, two equipment rooms, a storage area, laundry facilities and locker rooms for the coaches and referees.

“The new facility is going to be a big asset in recruiting and gives all four teams a home we haven’t ever had,” said Teddy Meyer, head women’s soccer coach.
