Flagler expands support to military with new director of military recruitment
Dec 1, 2016
Flagler College is implementing programs for active duty military personnel and veterans, and the offerings will be supported by a new advocate: the college’s first director of military recruitment. Selena Hernandez-Haines, a Flagler alumna and retired commander in the U.S. Navy, joined the college’s administration in June.
She is working to broaden the college’s appeal to individuals with military experience, and will conduct extensive outreach to active duty personnel and veterans to spread the word about new opportunities.
One of the most notable changes to Flagler’s offerings, said Hernandez-Haines, is an expansion of the potential transfer credit hours that can be awarded to the military community for their military-earned training or experience. With new policies in effect this year, military students may be granted up to 19 hours of transfer credit instead of no more than four.
