Art professor snags 'Best in Show,' art faculty at Jacksonville Museum of Contemporary Art

Assistant Professor of Art Sara Pedigo, ‘03, recently won “Best in Show” for her paintings at the Fifth Annual 100% Pure Florida juried exhibition at the Fifth Avenue Gallery in Melbourne, Fla.

Pedigo’s oil-on-panel paintings, “At the Lake” and “Late Summer,” were part of the show that featured Florida artists working in a variety of subject matter and mediums.

The prize was a solo showing at the Fifth Avenue Gallery in June 2011.

Pedigo is a recipient of the Joan Mitchell Foundation MFA Grant, and she has exhibited throughout the United States. Most notably, she was included in the 2006 Outwin Boochever Portrait Competition at the Smithsonian National Portrait Gallery.

Pedigo, as well as art faculty members Leslie Robison, Laura Mongiovi,?Patrick Moser, Russell Maycumber,?Loren Myre?and Enzo Torcoletti, also contributed to a September exhibit at the Jacksonville Museum of Contemporary Art called “Imagination Squared.” The exhibit featured the work of hundreds of artists in Northeast Florida who produced pieces on 5-inch-by-5-inch pieces of wood. The exhibit had nearly 1,000 pieces.
