A Salute to the Generous Alumni Supporters of Pollard Hall
Sep 29, 2014
On Aug. 22, Flagler College celebrated the grand opening of Pollard Hall, the first new academic building to be constructed on campus since the completion of the Proctor Library. Pollard Hall comprises 18,600 square feet in three interconnected two-story structures housing Flagler’s Communication Department and other academic departments.
The construction of Pollard Hall marks the largest and most energetic show of alumni support in Flagler’s history.
Nelson C. Pollard, an Associate Alumnus, provided the lead gift to name Pollard Hall. Leadership gifts were made to name beautiful learning and gathering spaces by the following visionary alumni: Dr. Beverly Copeland Carmichael, ‘72; Viki Freeman, ‘74; Susan Goedert, ‘81; David Hanvey, ‘93; Michelle Mattingly, ‘03; Steve Prediletto, ‘98; Nancy Rutland, ‘80; and Mitch Walk, ‘79. A unique Minorcan well found on-site during an archaeological dig has also been preserved through a gift from Rick Groux, ‘79.
There were many additional alumni gifts made to Pollard Hall, and this collective showing of support with gifts from friends and parents have made this state-of-the-art academic hub a reality for Flagler College.
Several naming opportunities are still available.
