The Department of Theatre Arts offers a pre-professional, educational experience tailored to you. Our goal is to create an environment where you feel challenged, but also supported. While we value quality and excellence, we know that the process that leads to excellence is just as important.
What You'll Study
We combine the study of dramatic literature, genre, and theater history with experiential learning opportunities, giving you a well-rounded set of skills. Combined, these experiences will prepare you for graduate school and a wide range of industry careers.
You'll receive hands-on, practical training in many areas of theatre production starting from your first year, including acting, directing, musical theatre, technical theatre and design (scenic, lighting, make-up, and costume), theatre education (applied theatre and theatre for young audiences), and house management/arts administration.
Minors to Consider
Auditions are not currently required for the BA itself, but as space is limited, select music and musical theatre classes will require an audition.
