Youth Ministry

The Youth Ministry minor prepares you, through learning and experience, for a wide variety of ministry vocations, religious studies, and for seminary.

What you’ll study

Together, we'll explore the theological foundations for youth ministry, as well as adolescent culture. We'll look at areas where ministry and culture intersect:

  • Social justice
  • Science and youth ministry
  • Adolescent development
  • Pastoral care

You'll leave Flagler College prepared to love and serve young people. You'll also leave with critical reflection skills, an awareness of the needs of culture, and clearly articulated theological commitments to ground your actions in the world.

Practical Experience

We practice everything we do in the classroom in the real world. Our students are often involved in local youth ministries:

  • Local churches
  • Young life
  • Campus ministries
  • Other non-profit organizations

You'll complete a supervised internship of 120 hours. During those hours, you'll both practice and reflect on your youth ministry experience.

What's Next?

You'll study theology and develop skills in ministry. But you'll also complete supervised fieldwork and training. You'll also benefit from encouraging and nurturing faculty and staff. We'll be here to talk to you about vocational opportunities.
