History
What better way to explore the past than on an historic Gilded Age campus surrounded by a town whose written records reach back into the 16th century? Our location will nurture your curiosity for this field and hone your skills in research, writing, and critical thinking.
What you’ll study
Travel through the past with courses from Ancient Greece to the Vietnam War. With small class sizes, you will work closely with faculty reading and writing about the past. As a major, you will dive deeply into a topic of your choice for Senior Seminar, culminating in your own original research paper.
Practical Experience
History is not all books and dusty archives! On field trips, you will explore our historic location. Through internships, you can work hands-on in the field. Need more adventure? Join faculty on study abroad trips to Ireland, England, Scotland, Vietnam, or Russia.
What's Next?
We encourage History majors to engage in internships, and the nation's oldest city is the perfect place to find one!
