Dormitory Wireless and Ethernet

If you experience any issues related to the wireless or wired network in the dorms, please contact us immediately and we will resolve the problem.

Dormitory Ethernet

Each dorm room has at least one Ethernet port for Internet connection.

Connecting to the network using an Ethernet cable is faster than WiFi and does not require you to log in, ever.

If you would like to stream media-rich content such as YouTube, Netflix, Hulu, Pandora, Spotify, etc., you should plug your computer into the Ethernet port. The Ethernet connection will be reliable for streaming media-rich content, even when many users are connected to the internet during peak times.

To connect to the wired, Ethernet dorm network:

  1. You will need an Ethernet cable. Note that this cable is different from a phone cable and can be purchased anywhere that electronics or office supplies are sold, including Walt-Mart and some drugstores, or the Flagler College Bookstore.
  2. All you need to do is to plug the Ethernet cable from your computer into the Ethernet jack and you will be automatically connected to the Internet.
  3. If you and your roommates need to connect more than one computer to the Ethernet network, you will need to purchase an Ethernet switch and extra Ethernet cables.

Dormitory Wireless

Because wireless is accessible in the dorms, we ask that you do not install wireless equipment, such as routers, in your room. A hub or switch can also be purchased where electronics or office supplies are sold.

To connect to the wireless network in the dorms using a mobile device, such as a smart phone or tablet, click here.

To connect to the wireless network in the dorms using a computer:

  1. Ensure that your wireless card is turned on
  2. Connect to the "Flagler College" wireless network.
  3. Open your Internet browser.
  4. You should see the wireless login page. Enable pop-ups on this page.
  5. Enter your Flagler College email username and password.
  6. A window containing a log out link will pop open. Keep this window open until you are done browsing, then click the log out link. This is especially important when moving from your dorm to another wireless network, such as the library. If you don’t log out, you may have problems when attempting to log in elsewhere on campus.

If you would like to stream media-rich content such as YouTube, Netflix, Hulu, Pandora, Spotify, etc., you should plug your computer into the Ethernet port. The Ethernet connection will be reliable for streaming media-rich content, even when many users are connected to the internet during peak times.
