Going
to
college
in
a tourist
town
has
an
appeal
all
its
own.
With
the
St.
George
Street
shopping
district
one
block
to
the
east
of
campus
and
the
Lightner
Museum
one
block
to
the
south,
Flagler
students
have
ample
opportunity
to
explore
the
rich
cultural
heritage
and
international
flavor
of
St.
Augustine.
And
there
is
always
time
for
a relaxing
day
at
the
beach,
about
four
miles
from
campus.
Because
of
its
traditional
interest
in
art
and
theatre,
St.
Augustine
provides
a rich
supplement
to
the
cultural
programs
and
activities
presented
by
students
and
faculty.
Students
are
encouraged
to
participate
in
various
community-sponsored
activities
and
to
attend
plays,
lectures
and
concerts
offered
by
outside
groups
and
organizations.
Even
better
is
the
fact
that
places
like
the
Lightner
admit
Flagler
students
free
of
charge,
while
other
area
attractions,
and
many
merchants,
offer
discounted
rates.
Some
of
the
more-popular
local
attractions
are
the
Alligator
Farm,
the
Fountain
of
Youth,
Ripley's
Believe
It
or
Not,
the
Castillo
de
San
Marcos
and
the
Oldest
House.
Several
boats
offer
sightseeing
trips
around
the
harbor,
and
the
St.
Augustine
Sightseeing
Trains
and
horse-drawn
carriages
become
familiar
sights
for
Flagler
students,
faculty
and
staff.
