Clubs & Organizations


There are five honor societies and 22 clubs on campus, with interests and fun activities ranging from academic to social to community service. Coordinating them are the Student Government Association (SGA) and the InterClub Council.

The college art gallery, theater, campus newspaper, radio station and literary journal also provide creative outlets and preprofessional experience. Students also are encouraged to take part in the intramural sports program (See the Athletics section for more about Intramurals).

Campus Clubs

  • AIGA (American Institute of Graphic Design)
    A club open to all students interested in graphic design. AIGA is a national organization that cultivates enthusiasm for and confidence in design work.
  • ARIEL (Spanish/LAS Club)
    A club open to anyone interested in Spanish or Latin American Studies. This club is very active in raising thousands of dollars every year for charities in South America.
  • Behavioral Science Student Association (BSSA)
    Students interested in anthropology, psychology and/or sociology, whether or not they are majoring or minoring in the subject, are welcome to join this group and learn about the different aspects of this field.
  • Best Buddies International
    A service organization for students interested in enhancing the lives of individuals with intellectual disabilities by providing opportunities for one-to-one friendships and integrated employment.
  • Campus Crusade for Christ
    Encouraging Christians and non-Christians alike to discuss real life issues from a spiritual perspective, this club supports students' spiritual growth through one-on-one mentoring and small group discussions.
  • Catholic College Fellowship
    Open to all denominations, this club aims to serve the spiritual needs of college students while fostering fellowship, Catholic studies and helping the community through faith.
  • Deaf Awareness Club
    An organization whose purpose is to serve students interested in learning about the deaf or the hard of hearing. This club collaborates with the Florida School for the Deaf and the Blind in planning special projects and activities for deaf students. It is designed to further professional standards and improve preparation of those dealing with the education of the deaf and hard of hearing.
  • Flagler College Service Club
    A service club, formally known as Flagler Women's Club, is composed of women and men who perform volunteer services for the College and the community. This organization annually presents a fashion, modeled by students, faculty and staff.
  • Home Team
    Members of this outreach club volunteer in the community to assist with housing rehab and other service projects. In the fall, the club participates in Make a Difference Day. Here's a typical project for the St. Johns Housing Partnership.
  • Interclub Council
    A council comprised of the presidents of all student organizations on campus, ICC promotes open communication and effective planning among all clubs on campus and coordinates the functions and events of each club.
  • International Club
    Students in this club help the campus explore other cultures through fun activities and events.
  • Intervarsity Christian Fellowship
    Intervarsity encourages development of Christian growth and fellowship in the College community. In addition to students, membership is open to faculty and staff.
  • Mu Epsilon Nu
    MEN facilitates social wellbeing within the community by encouraging students to participate in enjoyable yet beneficial activities and service projects.
  • On Religion
    On Religion is a club for students interested in how religion affects the world around them. The club meets every Wednesday night at 5:30 at Pizzalley's on St. George Street. Topics discussed include the relationship between religion and sex, religion and film, religion and philosophy, religion and morality, religion and politics, and the relationship between the world's religions themselves.   • Phi Alpha Delta
    PAD membership is open to any student in good standing who is interested in pre-law studies. PAD promotes the intellectual and social activities of its members in order to aid in their advancement into the study of law.
  • Phi Alpha Omega
    A women's service organization, Phi Alpha provides opportunities for participation in service projects on campus and in the community and for social interaction among its members.
  • Philosophy Symposium
    Members of this club enjoy philosophical debates as well as discussing the various components associated with logical thought.
  • Political Guild
    A club for students interested in political issues, debates, and world events.
  • Public Relations Society
    The Flagler College PRSSA chapter is one of 248 other chapters in colleges and universities across the country whose mission is to advance the profession and the preprofessional. The chapter serves as a networking ground between students and professionals, as well as a way for members to build professional portfolios.  As a member, students get a hands-on approach to public relations.  The Flagler College PRSSA chapter also writes and executes strategic plans for local organizations.
  • Rotaract
    Collage branch of Rotary International with the philosophy of "service above self." The club focus is on community service projects locally and internationally.
  • Society for Advancement of Management (SAM)
    The purpose of this organization is to assist in furthering the practice of professional management through interaction of students, faculty and operation managers.
  • "SPIRIT" (Singing and Signing Hands)
    SPIRIT is a student performance group representing Flagler College that combines sign language, music and choreography. The goal of this group is to present a message promoting awareness of the beauty and expressiveness of signing, while providing entertainment for various audiences. SPIRIT also works toward improving the manual communication skills of group members.
  • Sport Management Club
    Membership is open to all students. Members assist with the implementation of athletic events on campus, including intercollegiate and intramural. The organization also assists with sporting events in the community, such as road races, Hoop It Up and the Jacksonville Jaguars' games.
  • Student Government Association
    SGA actively represents student opinions; promotes the social and academic development of students; fosters communication, cooperation and understanding in all areas of the College; recommends and implements improvements necessary to the welfare of the student bodynoindent and the College; and encourages effective student organizations.
  • Students in Free Enterprise (SIFE)
    SIFE strives to provide college students the best opportunity to make a difference and to develop leadership, teamwork and communication skills through learning, practicing and teaching the principles of free enterprise.
  • Surf Club
    Designed to promote interest in the areas of surfing, fitness and an appreciation for the environment, the team is open to all individuals regardless of ability to surf.

Honor Societies

  • Alpha Chi National College Honor Scholarship Society
    A general academic honorary society. Its purpose is to promote and recognize character and scholarship.
  • Alpha Psi Omega
    The Theatre Arts Department petitioned the National Theatre Arts Honor Society, Alpha Psi Omega, to approve a chapter at Flagler College. The actual ceremony of Induction will take place early December 2005 after pledges have proven their contributions to the national chapter. Chair of Theatre Arts Phyllis M. Gibbs will be the sponsor. This is a service organization as well as an honor society, and members must not only contribute to their department but to their college and community as well.
  • Kappa Delta Pi Education Honor Society
    An international honor society in education. KDP promotes the ideals of scholarship, high personal standards and promise in teaching and allied professions. The Flagler chapter was chartered in 1997.

    The local chapter is identified as Psi Rho Chapter #569. Membership is according to guidelines of the National Organization (GPA 3.0 or higher; Acceptance into the College of Education; Completion of 51 semester hours). The mission of the local chapter is service both to educational institutions and the community, recognition of scholarship within the community and college, and professional development of the members.

  • Omicron Delta Kappa
    An honor society with a threefold purpose: to recognize individuals who have attained a high standard of leadership in collegiate and/or community activities and to encourage them to aspire to higher achievements; to bring together the most representative individuals in all phases of collegiate life and thus to create an organization which will help to mold the sentiment of the institution on questions of local and intercollegiate interest; and to bring together members of the faculty and student bodynoindent on a basis of mutual interest, understanding and helpfulness.
  • Psi Chi
    A national honor society in psychology, Psi Chi is dedicated to encouraging, stimulating and maintaining excellence in scholarship and advancing the science of psychology. To qualify for membership, students must have completed at least three semesters of college credit, including nine semester hours of psychology, declared a psychology major or minor, rank in the upper 35 percent of their class, demonstrate high standards of personal behavior and receive two-thirds of the affirmative votes of those present at a regular chapter meeting.
  • Sigma Tau Delta International English Honor Society,
    Alpha Epsilon Omega Chapter
    This society confers distinction for high achievement in English language and literature, provides cultural stimulation on campus, and promotes interest in language and literature in the community

Other organizations and campus media

  • Cheerleaders
    Representing the College during the basketball season, the cheerleaders are under the supervision of the Director of Intercollegiate Athletics.
  • Flagler College Dance Team
    An organization that provides students an opportunity to expand their interests and talents in dance. See Teams in the Athletics Section for more about the Dance Team.
  • The Flagler Review
    A Journal of Contemporary Thought, Literature and Art put out annually by English majors who edit and publish the selected essays, short stories, poetry and visual art created by students in all majors at Flagler College.
  • The Gargoyle
    The college newspaper is open to all students interested in journalism, feature writing, photography, desktop publishing and advertising sales. It operates under the supervision of the Director of Public Information.
  • Student Judiciary Council
    The Student Judiciary Council helps enforce College regulations and policies regarding proper student behavior
  • Ultimate Frisbee Team
    Ultimate Frisbee has been around the Flagler campus for so many years, the students have organized into a team that meets every Sunday for matches and that competes against other colleges and universities.
  • WFCF
    The College radio station, run by communication majors, WFCF broadcasts an eclectic and entertaining mix of music on 88.5 FM. Listeners also can access the signal online.
  • Young Life
    The Young Life/Youth Ministry Program at Flagler College provides a rich educational experience through challenging academics, fieldwork, and Christian fellowship. Flagler faculty and Young Life leaders have been working together since 1975 to train students to minister and serve today's youth. The coordinator is Martha Shinn, who can be reached at younglife@flagler.edu. Her office is located at 65 Valencia Street, next to the Tennis Center. There is also a minor available through the Liberal Studies Department.
