Lync Instant Messaging

All employees have access to Instant Messaging with other Flagler College employees using Microsoft Skype for Business. Skype for Business allows you to communicate with other employees by typing messages in real-time, which can be a convenient alternative to emailing or making a phone call. Depending on how you access Skype for Business, you can also send files to other employees, hold a group chat, or even share your screen!

How to access Skype for Business:

Windows Application

  1. Skype for Business may open automatically when you log into your computer. If it doesn't, follow these instructions.
  2. Click "Start."
  3. For Windows users, you can type Skype for Business in the search bar to find the program. Click on Microsoft Skype for Business to open.
  4. If you cannot find a Skype for Business shortcut, it may not be installed on your computer. Please contact us to let us know that you need Skype for Business installed.

Mac Application

  1. You may already see a blue "S" icon in your Dock. If not, follow these instructions. 
  2. Open the Applications folder from your Dock or from your Macintosh HD. 
  3. Click or double-click Skype for Business.app to open Skype for Business.
  4. If you cannot find a Skype for Business shortcut, it may not be installed on your computer. Please contact us to let us know that you need Skype for Business installed.

How to log into Skype for Business:

  1. Ensure that you have a network connection.
  2. When you log in, enter your full Flagler College email address (including @flagler.edu) as the username.
  3. Enter your email/network password as the password.
  4. If you cannot log in, verify your login credentials, verify that you are connected to the network, and if necessary, restart your device. For further assistance, contact us.

How to manage Contacts:

  1. To make it easy to find employees you contact, you can organize your contacts into Groups.
  2. Right-click in the contact list area to rename, delete, or create a new contact Group.

How to add Contacts:

  1. In the search bar, enter part of the name of the employee you would like to add to your contact list.
  2. A list of search results will appear.
  3. Click the user your would like to add to your contact list and click the (+) plus icon next to his or her name and choose a Group to which you would like to add this contact.
