Q: Why Flagler?
A: I had always planned to go far from home for college. And although I had never visited Flagler College or St. Augustine before the week of move-in, I did a lot of research and never read one bad thing about either the college or the city. Based on my research, I felt I could quickly make this community my home.
Q: How was your adjustment coming from home to Flagler?
A: I was really eager to leave home, so the adjustment to a new city was pretty easy. I had expected to immediately find my niche on campus, but that’s where it got a little bit tougher. It took longer than I had anticipated, but I learned a lot about myself during that adjustment period. Flagler College has so many people willing to encourage and support you throughout the process, and I’m extremely thankful I stuck around long enough to find my place.
Q: What do you do for fun?
A: I work at the coolest dessert shop in St. Augustine – the Hyppo! And when I’m not doing schoolwork or working, I’m either volunteering or catching up on my sleep. I’m lucky to find both my job and my school activities fun!
Q: Do you have a secret study spot?
A: My house! Living off-campus has taught me the importance of inviting friends over for snacks and moral support while we struggle together through a long “to-do” list.
Q: What’s your dream job?
A: Ultimately, I would love to start a non-profit working to solve the problems of poverty and homelessness through both direct service and public policy and lobbying work. I have an unwavering passion for on-ground action and legislative change, but I also believe the intersection of the two is extremely powerful and would allow me to have the best of both worlds!
Q: What is your favorite on-campus office to visit?
A: I’m a big fan of any Student Services office! All of them are places of encouragement. I personally spend a lot of time in Mr. Mellon’s office, as well as in the Career Development Center office.
