Assistant Professor of Art History

The Department of Art and Design at Flagler College invites applications for a full-time assistant professor of Art History to begin August 2010. Candidates should excel in teaching a range of courses, including art history surveys, contemporary art, and courses which employ interdisciplinary approaches.

 

Qualifications include a PhD in art history, evidence of excellence in teaching at the undergraduate level, and evidence of scholarly production with the promise of continued professional development. Salary and benefits are commensurate with experience. Minority candidates are encouraged to apply.

Assistant Professor of Natural Sciences: Two Positions

The Department of Mathematics, Science, and Technology at Flagler College invites applications for two full-time faculty positions at the rank of assistant professor to begin August 2010. Candidates for both positions must demonstrate an enthusiastic commitment to teaching undergraduate students, have a strong record as an interdisciplinary scientist, and be creative in linking academia with practice. Successful candidates will be expected to make significant contributions to the development of an environmental science major in the next few years.

 

Primary teaching responsibilities include teaching general education science courses and accompanying laboratories, and will include upper-level environmental science courses, field-studies, and/or courses within the candidate’s area of specialization as the department grows. Other responsibilities include advising, mentoring students in undergraduate research, undertaking scholarly activity, and service on college committees.

 

Position One: Environmental Scientist – Environmental Chemistry: Preference will be given to candidates with a specialization in Environmental Chemistry, but strong applicants from other areas of chemical science will be considered. Candidates must hold a Ph.D. (or be able to document a completion date for the doctorate) in Environmental Science or related field, with a minimum of 18 graduate credit hours in the chemical sciences.

 

Position Two: Environmental Scientist – Earth System Science: Preference will be given to candidates with a background in Geology, Hydrology or Earth Sciences, with the ability to apply these disciplines to land or coastal systems science, but strong applicants from the other areas of environmental science will be considered. Candidates must hold a PhD (or be able to document a completion date for the doctorate) in an appropriate discipline, with a minimum of 18 graduate credit hours in the earth sciences.

Assistant Professor of Business

The Department of Business Administration at Flagler College invites applications for a full-time faculty position at the rank of assistant professor or instructor to begin August, 2010. Preferred candidates will have teaching and business experience with a Ph.D. in marketing or a D.B.A with a concentration in marketing. ABDs in marketing will also be considered. Primary teaching responsibilities include teaching marketing operations, selling principles and methods, consumer behavior, and other business and marketing courses offered by the department. The teaching load is four sections and two or three preparations per semester. Other responsibilities include advising, serving on departmental and campus committees, and continuing professional development. Salary is competitive and commensurate with experience. Rank will depend upon credentials and experience.

Sport Management Position

 

The Sport Management Department at Flagler College invites applications for a full-time faculty position, rank open, to begin no later than August 2010 with an opportunity to begin January 2010. Candidates must demonstrate excellence in teaching a range of Sport Management courses. Primary responsibilities include teaching Sport Finance, Sport Marketing, Recreation and Fitness Management, and Facility and Event Management. Other responsibilities include academic advising, directing apprenticeships, ongoing scholarship and professional development, and college service. Sport Management faculty provide practical applications of classroom theory and with students coordinate two major community events each year.

 

Requirements include a Ph.D. in sport management, evidence of excellence in teaching undergraduate students, a strong commitment to professional development, and teaching and/or industry experience in the areas of sport finance, sport marketing, and facility/event management. Preferred qualifications include evidence of scholarly production and experience in event planning and organization, curriculum development, program accreditation, student club advising, and fundraising. Salary and benefits are competitive and commensurate with rank and experience. Minority candidates are encouraged to apply.

 

 

Flagler’s Sport Management Department was the first undergraduate program in the state of Florida to be approved by the Sport Management Program Review Council (SMPRC). In addition, the Commission on Sport Management Accreditation (COSMA) granted the program Candidacy Status this year. The program enrolls approximately 185 undergraduate students.
