Lady Saints advance with 2-1 (OT) win over Lady Seahawks

SAVANNAH, Ga. − Courtney Van Dyke (Maitland, Fla./Mars Hill College) scored the golden goal in the 99th minute to lead Flagler College to a 2-1 overtime win over Northwood University in the semifinal round of the Florida Sun Conference Women’s Soccer Tournament Friday afternoon at Forsyth Park. With the victory, Flagler advances to the championship match against host Savannah College of Art and Design. The kickoff is scheduled for 3 p.m. tomorrow and the winner receives the region’s automatic berth to the national championships held Nov. 16-22 at Olathe, Kan.
 
Diana Hue got Northwood (9-5-1) on the board first when she converted a Geniva Sinclair pass into a goal in the 55th minute.
 
Flagler’s (14-4-0) Lauren Siatka (Ashburn, Va./Broad Run HS) scored the equalizer in the 73rd minute when she scored off Jessica Potter’s (Ormond Beach, Fla./Seabreeze HS) corner kick.
 
Kate Carver (Margate, Fla./Nova HS) saved three shots for the Lady Saints while Alex Almarez tallied six saves for the Lady Seahawks.
 
Flagler out-shot Northwood 17-16 and held a 5-2 advantage in corner kicks.
