Bees win FSC regular season title, 3-1
SAVANNAH, Ga. − The Savannah College of Art and Design won the Florida Sun Conference’s regular season crown tonight by defeating Flagler College 3-1 (30-14, 30-23, 25-30, 30-22) in a women’s volleyball match at the St. Paul’s Gym. SCAD (22-9, 12-1 FSC) will be the top seed in next weekend’s NAIA Region XIV Tournament while Flagler (19-13, 12-2), the host school, will be the No. 2 seed. Embry-Riddle University and Webber International University round out the quartet that will play in the regional.
Jessica Pate (Green Cove Springs, Fla./Clay HS) led Flagler (19-13, 12-2 Florida Sun) with 11 kills, 12 digs and four service aces while Elizabeth Layfield (Gainesville, Fla./Florida CC-Jacksonville) added 10 kills. Katie Pommier (Crescent City, Ill./Crescent Iroquois HS) led the defense with 13 digs and also tallied 14 assists. Krista McAra (Merritt Island, Fla./Merritt Island HS) added five total blocks for the Lady Saints.
