UNF snaps Flagler’s six-match win streak, 3-1
JACKSONVILLE, Fla. − The University of North Florida could not miss in the fourth game, hitting .459, en route to a 3-1 (30-15, 26-30, 30-19, 30-19) win over Flagler College in a non-conference women’s volleyball match at UNF Arena Tuesday night.
Megan Wood led NCAA Division I-member North Florida (14-8) with 14 kills and hit a superb .545 for the match to go along with her nine total blocks. Emily Kohler added 12 kills and Amy Stroder chipped in with 10 more for the Ospreys. Jenna Thomas paced the defense with 27 digs and Heather Kendrick tallied 47 assists.
Jessica Pate (Green Cove Springs, Fla./Clay HS) led Flagler (18-11) with 14 kills. Elizabeth Layfield (Gainesville, Fla./Florida CC-Jacksonville) led the Lady Saint defense with 16 digs while Katie Pommier (Crescent City, Ill./Crescent Iroquois HS) tallied 21 assists. Krista McAra (Merritt Island, Fla./Merritt Island HS) recorded five block assists.
Flagler returns to action Thursday night when they host Florida CC-Jacksonville in an exhibition match at 7 pm. The Lady Saints will have “Senior Night” Friday against conference-rival Northwood at 7 p.m.
