Lady Saints blank Lady Warriors, 7-0

ST. AUGUSTINE, Fla. — Jessica Potter (Ormond Beach, Fla./Seabreeze HS) scored the match’s first two goals to lead Flagler College to a 7-0 win over Webber International University in a Florida Sun Conference women’s soccer match at Saint Field Friday night.

Potter scored on a breakaway as she received the ball from keeper Kate Carver (Margate, Fla./Nova HS) and dribbled 25 yards over midfield and beat the Lady Warrior keeper to the right in the 10th minute. Potter followed with her 11th goal of the season when she converted a Courtney Van Dyke (Maitland, Fla./Maitland HS) pass into the net in the 19th minute to put Flagler (11-3, 3-2 Florida Sun) up 2-0. That would be the score as both teams went into the half.
 
In the 50th minute, Kelley Lynch (Somers, Conn./Somers HS) played a ball from the deep right of the goal box and the cross drifted in towards the net, deflected off the keeper and bounced in off the right post to give the Lady Saints a 3-0 lead. Marissa McConihay (North Palm Beach, Fla./Palm Beach Gardens HS) tacked on a pair of goals, increasing her team-leading total to 14 goals on the season. Megan Bundrick (Mattituck, N.Y./Maatituck HS) and Nicole Raymond (ashburn, Va./Broad Run HS) added goals for Flagler. Carver tallied three saves for the Lady Saints before giving way to Katy Jones (Gulf Breeze, Fla./Gulf Breeze HS) who preserved the shutout with a save of her own.
 
Amber White (Winter Haven, Fla.) tallied 10 saves for Webber International (3-5, 1-3).
 
Flagler out-shot WIU 30-6 and held a slight 6-4 advantage in corner kicks.
 
The Lady Saints will travel to Miami Gardens on Sunday and face St. Thomas University in a 2 p.m. kick off. The Lady Warriors play host to the Savannah College of Art and Design, also on Sunday, at 1 p.m.
