Lady Saints ground Night Hawks, 8-2
THOMASVILLE, Ga. | The Flagler College womenfs soccer team unloaded a season-high eight goals and rolled past Thomas University 8-2 in a non-conference match Sunday afternoon. Thomas will serve as the host of the NAIA Region XIV Tournament Nov. 4-5.
Marissa McConihay (North Palm Beach, Fla./Palm Beach Gardens HS) recorded a hat trick and also assisted on a goal for Flagler (10-3). Jessica Potter (Ormond Beach, Fla./Seabreeze HS) added a pair of second half goals to go along with two assists and Courtney Van Dyke (Maitland, Fla./Maitland HS) also scored two goals and registered two assists. Caitlin Eggimann (Gulf Breeze, Fla./Gulf Breeze HS) scored the matchfs final goal off an assist from Megan Bundrick (Mattituck, N.Y./Mattituck HS). Becky Hinmon (New Port Richey, Fla./J.W. Mitchell HS) assisted on Van Dykefs first goal. Kate Carver (Margate, Fla./Nova HS) tallied three saves before giving way to Katy Jones (Gulf Breeze, Fla./Navarre HS).
Flagler out-shot Thomas 31-5 and had an advantage of 6-2 in corner kicks.
Darlene Campbell scored a pair of goals for Thomas (0-11-1). Kim Firth tallied 23 saves for the Night Hawks.
Flagler hosts Webber International Oct. 14 at 7 p.m. in a Florida Sun Conference match.
