Potter powers Lady Saints past Lady Royals, 4-0

ST. AUGUSTINE, Fla. �| Jessica Potter (Ormond Beach, Fla./Seabreeze HS) netted a pair of goals and assisted on another two in leading Flagler College to a 4-0 win over Warner Southern College in a non-conference women�fs soccer match Tuesday afternoon at Saints Field.

Potter assisted on the match�fs first goal as she fed Marissa McConihay (North Palm Beach, Fla./Palm Beach Gardens HS) just past midfield for a breakaway goal in the 23rd minute. The goal was McConihay�fs team-leading ninth of the season.

Potter made it 2-0 for Flagler (9-3) when she hit a right-footed chip shot over the Warner Southern goalkeeper for 15 yards out that found the left side of the goal in the 41st minute.

Melissa Simpson (Gainesville, Fla./Buchholz HS) put the Lady Saints up 3-0 when she converted Potter�fs cross into the lower left corner of the goal from just outside the goal box in the 60th minute.

Potter would cap off the scoring by converting a penalty kick in the 66th minute.

Kate Carver (Margate, Fla./Nova HS) tallied one save and played 69:22 before giving way to Katy Jones (Gulf Breeze, Fla./Gulf Breeze HS). Jones tallied one save in 20:38 and helped preserve the shutout.

Vanessa Jobe recorded 10 saves for Warner Southern (1-6).

Flagler out-shot Warner Southern 30-3 and held a 14-0 advantage in corner kicks.

The Lady Saints will visit the site of the regional tournament on Sunday when they take on Thomas College of Thomasville, Ga., at 3 p.m.
