Hatters top Saints, 5-1

DeLAND, Fla.— Tanner Wolfe scored a hat trick in the first half to power Stetson University to a 5-1 win over Flagler College in a non-conference men’s soccer match Monday night at the Stetson Soccer Field.

Wolfe netted his first goal in the 16th minute when he headed in a free kick from Ben Dyon. He scored again in the 17th minute when he booted a ball in from 12 yards out, which proved to be the game winner, and gave Stetson (2-7) a 2-0 lead. In the 22nd minute, Wolfe capped of his hat trick when he scored off the left post putting the Hatters up 3-0.

Daniel Knop (Sydney, Australia/Narrabeen Sports HS) put Flagler (2-6) on the board with his fourth goal of the season in the 25th minute. Andres Jaramillo (Orlando, Fla./Cypress Creek HS) assisted on the play.

Rudy Mehrens and Armante Marshall tacked on second half goals for Stetson.

Jeff Smeraglinolo and Evan White split time in goal for the Hatters. Each keeper tallied a save.

Jordan Holtz (Clermont, Fla./South Lake HS) and Mike Allard (North Lauderdale, Fla./Coconut Creek HS) also split time in net for the Saints. Holtz tallied one save in the first half.

Stetson out-shot Flagler 9-7 and held a 6-1 advantage in corner kicks.

Flagler plays at conference-rival Embry-Riddle Aeronautical University Friday night at 7 p.m.
