Bees upset Lady Saints, 2-1 in double OT
SAVANNAH, Ga. | Brittany Morgenstern booted in a deflected shot with one second left remaining in the second extra session to lift the Savannah College of Art & Design to a 2-1 win over 18th-ranked Flagler College in a Florida Sun Conference womenfs soccer match Wednesday night at the Chatham County Soccer Complex.
Mortensen scored the goal from four yards out off of Kelly Quinnfs attempt that was deflected away with about four seconds remaining. Quinn scored the first goal of the match in the 29th minute to put SCAD (4-3-1, 2-0-1 Florida Sun) up 1-0.
Flaglerfs (6-2-0, 1-1-0) Marissa McConihay (North Palm Beach, Fla./Palm Beach Gardens HS) scored her team and conference-leading eight goal of the season in the 60th minute to knot the game at 1-1.
Lisa Gallant recorded four saves for the Bees. Kate Carver (Margate, Fla./Nova HS) tallied 13 saves for the Lady Saints.
SCAD out-shot Flagler 27-12, but Flagler had the advantage in corner kicks, 3-2.
Flagler will host Eckerd College Saturday at 5 p.m. at Saint Field.
