Saints rally to defeat Bobcats, 2-1

ST. AUGUSTINE, Fla.— Jorgen Rosten (Tynset, Norway/Nord-Osterdal Videregaende) was wide open just outside the left top corner of the goal box and Sean Frye (Collierville, Tenn./Collierville HS) found him with a touch pass and Rosten knocked it home in the 54th minute to give Flagler College a 2-1 Florida Sun Conference men’s soccer win over St. Thomas University Saturday night at Saints Field.

Flagler (1-4, 1-1 Florida Sun) trailed 1-0 after Alvin Murray broke away from a pack of players at midfield with the ball and streaked with the ball and flipped over the Saints keeper in the 24th minute.

David Iafrate (Gainesville, Fla./Buchholz HS) scored the equalizer off a corner kick. The kick came in and off a couple of players in the goal box, Iafrate booted the loose ball into the net in the 49th minute.

Jordan Holtz (Clermont, Fla./South Lake HS) tallied four saves for the Saints.

David Jaramillo also collected four saves for St. Thomas (0-4, 0-2).

Flagler held a 14-10 advantage in shots and also held a 4-3 lead in corner kicks.

Flagler will travel to Lake Wales Sept. 21 to take on Warner Southern College in a Florida Sun Conference match at 4 p.m.
