Lady Saints knock off Lady Warriors, 3-2
Shelly Jencik (Deerfield Beach, Fla./Cardinal Gibbons HS) recorded a match-high 17 kills to lead Flagler College to a 3-2 (22-30, 31-29, 30-27, 19-30, 15-9) win over Webber International University in a Florida Sun Conference women’s volleyball match Saturday afternoon at Flagler Gym. The loss knocks Webber International out of the ranks of the unbeaten.
Jessica Wedemyer (Peachtree City, Ga./McIntosh HS) added nine kills and three total blocks for Flagler (6-4, 2-0 Florida Sun). Jessica Pate (Green Cove Springs, Fla./Clay HS) paced the Lady Saint defense with 17 digs and Carrie Arnette (Keytsone Heights, Fla./St. Johns River CC) tallied 42 assists and 13 digs. Sarah Spraggins (Jacksonville, Fla./Fletcher HS) added 14 digs.
Cindy Eurie (Haverstraw, N.Y.) led Webber International (6-1, 1-1) with 16 kills and five total blocks. Leah Merrique (San Fernando, Trinidad & Tobago) added 15 kills. Danelle Wagner (Aliquippa, Pa.) tallied 38 assists and led the Lady Warrior defense with eight digs.
Flagler will travel to Opa Locka on Friday to take on Florida Memorial University in a 5 p.m. match.
