Lady Saints defeat Stars, 3-1

JACKSONVILLE, Fla. — Elizabeth Layfield (Gainesville, Fla./Florida CC-Jacksonville) led a balanced scoring attack with nine kills and also paced the defense with 14 digs as Flagler College defeated Florida Community College 3-1 (27-30, 30-20, 30-23, 36-34) in an exhibition volleyball match Tuesday night .

Shelly Jencik (Deerfield Beach, Fla./Cardinal Gibbons HS) added eight kills and seven digs for Flagler. Marlen Garcia (Coral Springs, Fla./Coral Springs HS) tallied 13 digs while Carrie Arnette (Keystone Heights, Fla./St. Johns River CC) registered 30 assists.

Flagler resumes regular season play Friday night when they host Warner Southern College in a Florida Sun Conference tilt at 7 p.m.
