Lady Griffins down Lady Saints, 3-1
DAYTONA BEACH, Fla. — Elizabeth Overberg had a team-high 18 kills to lead Fontbonne University of St. Louis to a 3-1 (30-27, 27-30, 30-23, 30-27) win over Flagler College in the opening round of the Daytona Beach Blast Friday afternoon.
Maria Eftink added 13 kills and Brittany Kult racked up 11 kills and 16 digs for Fontbonne (1-0). Rachel Schwoeppe tallied 47 assists and Laurie Koehler led the defense with 17 digs and also recorded five service aces.
Shelly Jencik (Deerfield Beach, Fla./Cardinal Gibbons HS) recorded a match high 22 kills for Flagler (2-2). Carrie Arnette (Keystone Heighhts, Fla./St Johns CC) tallied 50 assists and also led the defense with 16 digs.
