Dr. Beverly “Bev” Copeland Carmichael has been appointed Vice President of Institutional Advancement at Flagler College in St. Augustine, Florida. She will assume her new post on Aug. 1.

Dr. Gerald “Jerry” Gamache, former Associate Professor of Psychology at Flagler, passed away in May at a hospital in Jacksonville.

A paper written by Flagler College senior Ashley Ryan was selected as the top paper at the Pop Culture and Philosophy Undergraduate Conference at Georgia Southern University and will be included in the GSU undergraduate journal, “The Indefinite Dyad.”

Flagler College Associate Professor Arthur Vanden Houten spoke on May 7 in front of CSPAN cameras to a standing room only audience of students, professors and community members as part of Flagler College’s Community Lecture Series.

Six students enrolled in a Sex, Gender and Media course at Flagler College saw their work in the classroom pay off when papers they wrote were accepted into the South Florida Undergraduate Communication Honors Conference at Florida Atlantic University.

Two Flagler College Gargoyle editors and an Advanced Reporting class student won national awards in the Society of Professional Journalists Mark of Excellence competition.
