Flagler College freshman Josh Richardson took first place in the longboard division and helped the Flagler Surf Team take second at the 2014 National Scholastic Surfing Association East Coast championships last weekend.

The event was held April 3-6 in New Smyrna Beach where Richardson had recently won the longboard division at a season event.

Richardson has now qualified to compete in the June NSSA Nationals in California.

Flagler team members Dillon Harrington and Alec Zappone placed second and fifth respectively in the men’s surf division.

The NSSA is a nonprofit organization that encourages the fundamentals and skills of surfing competition while competing in structured and quality events.
