March 12, 2014

The Saint Johns Cultural Council has announced that Flagler College Associate Professor Phyllis Gibbs is one of eight women who have been selected to receive the sixth annual Dr. Gail Pflaster ROWITA Award for their achievements and contributions to the arts in St. Johns County.

The Dr. Gail Pflaster ROWITA (Recognizing Outstanding Women in the Arts), has been awarded each year since its establishment in 2009 to recognize and honor the contributions women have made to the artistic environment in Saint Johns County. It was founded by, and now named for, the late Dr. Gail Pflaster, a local writer and enthusiastic arts supporter.

“I am so thrilled and grateful to be in such company and to be recognized for my contributions to the arts community,” said Gibbs. “I am, surprised, speechless and so thankful to be honored in this way.”

Gibbs will be honored during an awards ceremony on March 30 at the Limelight Theatre, 11 Old Mission Ave. in St. Augustine. The event is free and open to the public.
