Flagler grad named St. Johns County Rookie Teacher of the Year

Kelly Thigpen, a 2010 Flagler graduate, was recently named St. Johns County Rookie Teacher of the Year. Thigpen teaches first grade at John A. Crookshank Elementary.

Thigpen began with the district as an associate teacher in the third grade at Crookshank and was later hired as a teacher for first grade.

Thigpen also remains active in the youth ministry at Anastasia Baptist Church, works as a Young Life leader at St. Augustine High School and started the Good News Club at Crookshank Elementary. She also volunteers for a variety of organizations including the Homeless Coalition and St. Francis House.
