“The Barbara L. Frye Scholarship … gave me the boost I needed, both financially and confidence wise,” said James, who is currently interning at WJXT Channel 4 in Jacksonville. “I knew that I had people backing me and recognizing that I had great potential and a lot of talent.”
Barbara L. Frye was the Tallahassee bureau chief for United Press International for 38 years, and the first woman to work full time in the Florida Capitol Press Corps. She was also a member of the inaugural 1990 class of the Florida Press Association Hall of Fame.
