The Flagler College PRSSA Chapter is preparing for its annual “STAND” fundraiser for the Flagler Health Care Foundation on Nov. 9.

The Flagler College Public Relations Student Society of America (PRSSA) Chapter is preparing for its annual “STAND” fundraiser for the Flagler Health Care Foundation. Last year’s event presented the foundation with a check for $510.

The event will be held on Nov. 9 on the West Lawn at Flagler College. It is scheduled to begin at 6 p.m. and conclude at 8 p.m. In the event of rain, the event will be held in Flagler College’s Ringhaver Student Center, 50 Sevilla St. Students may register at a price of $25 per team. Students may also purchase bracelets on campus from Oct. 20-22 with the “STAND” tagline on them: #STAND @FlaglerCollege.

“STAND” is a competition in which teams of five go head-to-head in five events. Teams will receive points based on what place it finishes in each event. Teams can also receive bonus points for extra money fundraised and for being the “best-dressed team.”

Last year, twelve teams participated in various competitions including a goofy relay race, trivia game and an eating contest with milk and cookies. Approximately 100 students gathered on the West Lawn to participate in and watch the competition, listen to music by DJ Rob Schanz, eat food and buy raffle tickets for a chance to win prizes donated by local businesses.

“I am really looking forward to STAND this year!” said Flagler College PRSSA President, Ana Guarino. “I know that it will be an even bigger success from last year. There’s many opportunities to win points rather than just events themselves, so I’m looking forward to having all of the teams involved throughout the entire event.”

This event will mark the sixth annual fundraising event for the Flagler Health Care Foundation. The Health Care Foundation gathers funding for the services the hospital provides to the community. All money contributed to the Foundation goes towards improving the hospital and its services to its patients and none is taken out for administrative fees.
