Flagler College Assistant Professor of Communication Tracey Eaton was awarded a first-place award in feature writing by the Florida Society of News Editors for his 2012 story on Cuban spy Juan Pablo Roque.

The piece was published by The Florida Center for Investigative Reporting in both English and in Spanish and took home the prize in the Spanish category.

I'm honored to receive the award from the Florida Society of News Editors,” said Eaton.  “I am also grateful to the Florida Center for Investigative Reporting, the non-profit bilingual news organization that distributed my story to El Nuevo Herald and other media outlets.”

Eaton’s story on the former spy can be found at fcir.org/2012/10/02/retired-spy-in-brothers-to-the-rescue-case-lives-in-obscurity.
