Flagler College will welcome award-winning photojournalist Bruce Strong as the keynote speaker during the eighth annual Communication Week from March 4-7.

Strong, a multimedia storyteller who has shot both photography and video in nearly 60 countries, has worked at the Orange County Register in Southern California for over a decade and has received many honors including California Photographer of the Year. His work has been published in publications such as Time and National Geographic. He is currently an associate professor at Syracuse University’s S.I. Newhouse School of Public Communications.

Strong will speak on March 4 at 10 a.m.

“Every year we bring to campus professionals with experience in a variety of communication industries,” said Dr. Tracy Halcomb, chair of the Flagler College communication department. “This year we have an amazing list of speakers who will interact directly with our communication students.”

Among others scheduled to speak:

  • Deirdre Breakenridge, president and director of communications at PFS Marketwyse, a marketing communications agency, will speak at 1 p.m. on Monday March 4. A veteran in the PR industry, Breakenridge leads a creative team of PR and marketing executives strategizing to gain brand awareness for their clients through creative and strategic PR campaigns.
  • Former Flagler College professor and journalist Rob Armstrong will speak to students March 6 at 10 a.m. in the Gamache-Koger Theater. Armstrong spent 32 years as a broadcast journalist and almost 25 years with CBS News. During his tenure there, he reported on four presidential election campaigns as well as nine presidential nominating conventions.
  • Fox Sports Network television marketing consultant and strategist Cathy Jamison will speak at the Gamache-Koger auditorium on March 7 at 11 a.m. Jamison’s recent efforts to launch social media rewards programs for both the NBA’s Orlando Magic and Miami Heat have been overwhelmingly successful.
