The month of April will bring locally filmed documentaries to WJCT TV, the Jacksonville PBS affiliate.
Beginning on April 5 at 10:30 p.m., the highly acclaimed “Women in War” presents the stories of five local women who served during wartime. Beginning in WWII and progressing through Iraq, each woman tells the story of her life during wartime and the effects of living with those experiences. Directed by Michael Isam, a Vietnam Veteran and long time veteran advocate, the film is a production by Flagler Communications students.
“The documentary is the brainchild of my wife, Dianna, who felt not enough attention was being paid to women serving in the armed forces,” said Isam. Additional showings for the documentary are April 8 at 11 p.m. and April 12 at 9:30 p.m.
April 20 finds a marathon of three highly acclaimed documentaries all of which premiered in St. Augustine. “Vietnam: Service, Sacrifice, and Courage”, featuring five local Vietnam war returnees who share the stories of their lives before, during and after the war airs at 9 p.m. “War Stories from the First Coast” airs at 10 p.m., and the most recent “POW: Stolen Freedom” airs at 11 p.m.
