The Flagler College Department of Theatre Arts is proud to announce “Just the Way You Are,” a trio of family-themed plays presented by the Department’s graduating seniors as part of the College’s Senior Conservatory program. The one-act plays will be performed on April 11-14 at 7 p.m. in the Flagler College Auditorium.

An exhilarating drama by Burgess Clark, “Down Came The Rain,” is directed by senior Meredith A. Rhein. The story is a commentary on the difficulty of life with mental disability from two vastly different perspectives. Two brothers mold the story; Brucie has always followed in the footsteps of his older brother Michael, both intellectually and developmentally. The play reveals that family ties are always constant, no matter how deep and frustrating the obstacle.

“The Way to Miami,” directed by Kristy E. Pike, is a touching comedy by Donald Steele. This short play opens on Frank and Leola, who after 42 years of marriage prepare to take the biggest journey of their lives: retirement in Florida. Fearing that they may not have anything in common except for the years they have spent together, Leola creates every possible excuse to keep them from leaving their family home. Eventually, they discover that home isn’t about where you are, it’s about who you are with.

Rich Orloff’s, “I Didn’t Know You Could Cook,” directed by senior Andrea DeCrescenzo, is a gripping, compassionate journey towards acceptance, tolerance and renewal of brotherly love. Powerful and moving, the play’s message can be summed up with Orloff’s moving statement, “I’m not asking you to approve, but I’m asking you to accept.” Orloff’s brilliantly crafted works of comedy include more than 60 full‐length and one-act plays produced both nationally and internationally.

“Just The Way You Are” will be performed on the Flagler College Auditorium stage, April 11-14 at 7 p.m. Tickets for the evenings can be purchased at the door for $5.
