Tim Bucolo, food service director of Flagler College Dining Services, recently won the Aramark Front Line Manager of the Year Award. Bucolo was chosen out of 300 people.
Bucolo said it was very gratifying to receive the prestigious award. He credits his co-workers for his success.
“It’s not really what I’ve done, but what my team has done,” Bucolo said.
Bucolo said his biggest challenge is changing people’s perceptions, and he said he is up to the challenge. Since arriving at Flagler he has already added a Mongolian station and vastly improved the vegetarian station.
According to student surveys, Bucolo is already making a difference. He has an open door policy when it comes to educating students on how the food is made.
“Most of what we get is what you would get in the store, we just make it in mass quantities,” Bucolo said. “I have nothing to hide.”
Freshness and quality is his number one priority and he hopes students perceptions of Flagler food will change.
Bucolo said he looks forward to the future and diversifying the food to give students more options.
