The Women of Vision Advisory Board of Flagler College will be holding its second annual Power of the Purse® luncheon to raise funds for scholarships and educational opportunities for deserving female students on Thursday, May 12. The event will again take place in the college’s historic Ponce de Leon Hall and is expected to draw a crowd of more than 300 women. It will follow the format of last year’s highly successful fundraiser and will include a silent auction of beautiful and unique purses and an inspirational keynote address. This year’s speaker will be author Prissy Elrod, a professional speaker, artist and humorist and the author of “Far Outside the Ordinary.”

The Power of the Purse® Tribute Book is a key element of the annual fundraiser; it provides an opportunity to honor those women who have inspired others through their work or legacy. These full-page Tributes, complete with photographs and text, may be purchased in memory of a loved one or in recognition of a living person. The Tributes will be compiled in a commemorative booklet for presentation to each guest at the luncheon. Tributes may be purchased for $250; deadline for submission is April 6. In addition, the Women of Vision Advisory Board is currently seeking sponsors for the 2016 event. Power of the Purse® luncheon sponsors — including Diamond, Ruby and Citrine level supporters as well as media and in-kind sponsors — are recognized for their generous support in the commemorative Tribute Book and on the Women of Vision website. Last year’s Founding Sponsors included Bozard Ford Lincoln, Flagler Hospital, Leonard’s Photography, the Delores Barr Weaver Fund, Forrest, Inc., The Kopp Group - RE/MAX Unlimited, Anh Vu, M.D., Burkhardt Sales and Service and The Bailey Group, with in-kind donations from St. Augustine Media, Blue Water Jewelers, Troika Studio, Monarch Studio, The St. Augustine Distillery and businesses and individuals who contributed purses for the silent auction.
