Flagler College now offers digital skills certification program
Individuals interested in mastering the technologies needed for today’s job market now have the means to do it with Flagler College’s new certification program in Digital Marketing Science.
The eight-week, non-credit bearing online program will launch for the first time on June 4 and is a collaboration between Flagler and GreenFig MicroEducation, a Silicon Valley startup.
“The rapid pace of technology has changed the game in marketing, advertising and customer engagement,” said Dr. Jorge Herrera. He is the director of Flagler College’s Adult and Continuing Education, the office that oversees the new program. “Every company, regardless of industry, increasingly relies on digital marketing to remain relevant and competitive.”
As part of the program, students will gain technical training from leading industry experts in popular marketing software applications, learn digital marketing fundamentals and tactics, complete real-world marketing projects and graduate with resume-building certifications.
The certification program, Herrera said, would appeal to a diverse demographic of individuals looking to advance their careers, including working professionals, recent college graduates, former marketing employees seeking to rejoin the field with relevant qualifications, and “lane changers,” working professionals who possess an interest in digital marketing but lack the education and hands-on experience.
The goal of the program is to match the tech-driven demand of the marketing sector with a ready workforce.
“This is the type of training employers value and often pay for new hires to attain,” Herrera said. “Job applicants with this type of training are more competitive from the start.”
The program’s first cohort, open to a limited number of students, will extend from June 4 to Aug. 3. It is taught via an industry-expert led live broadcast four days a week, plus offline work students will be expected to complete on their own time. The deadline to apply is Monday, May 21.
