That’s what happened to history major Jillian McClure when she wanted to register for a religion class her sophomore year. When that class was full, she picked “Civil Rights Movement” with Dr. Michael Butler, and the rest, as they say, is history.

Dr. J. Robin King, former professor of philosophy at Flagler College, passed away Dec. 9, 2010, after a 17-year battle with brain cancer. He was 63.

About the Magazine

Flagler College Magazine is published twice a year and sent to alumni, students, faculty and other members of the Flagler College community. It highlights the people, developments and accomplishments.

The magazine is produced by the college’s Public Information Office, and it has received awards and recognition from the Florida Public Relations Association, the Council for Advancement and Support of Education and MarCom.

In May of 1998, Doug Dvorak went through the toughest 30 days of his life: he was diagnosed with cancer, he got sober for the first time, and his father died tragically after falling out of a third floor window.
