Written in 1636, this classic play from Spain’s Golden Era, examines the question of pre-destination and man’s desperate attempts at controlling the future. A fantasy, set in the “exotic” Kingdom of Poland, finds King Basilio has sequestered his son, Segismundo in the mountains due to horrible prophecies at the birth of the boy.  The time has come for Basilio to name his heir.  He brings Segismundo out of seclusion to see what will happen, but has the young man “drugged” and brought to court in his sleep. This way if things don’t turn out, Segismundo will be told that he only “dreamt” of being freed from his cell in the mountains.

Behind the scenes: From costumes and props, to lighting and set design, see how "Life Is A Dream" all comes together.
