Writers in Residence Presents May Yang

6:00 PM - 7:00 PM | Ponce de Leon Hall

May Yang is a first generation Hmong-American, artist, poet, and ethnographer hailing from California's Central Valley. During this event, Yang will read her poetry and answer questions about writing.

In 2017, Yang published her first collection of poetry, To Whitey and the Cracker Jack, winner of the 2016 Robert Dana Prize for Poetry (Anhinga Press, 2017). For this debut collection, Yang performs under the persona HAUNTIE.

Her current work explores the lived intimacy of embodied memory and intergenerational trauma in the aftermath of the U.S. Secret War. Her poetry is featured in the Academy of American Poets, and she is an active member of the Hmong American Writers' Circle.

This event will take place in the Flagler Room.
