Markland Cottage was originally one of four outbuildings linked visually to the main house by a palm alley and a brick walk. The shingled structure featured a deep porch supported on palm tree trunks and a heavy cornice under a concave roof. A matching grant from the State of Florida has helped the college rehabilitate the building.
