Standard and Poor's NetAdvantage provides full-text access to a variety of corporate and industry resources produced by Standard & Poors, including S&P Register, Industry Surveys, Investment Reviews, Stock Reports, the latest 12 months of The Outlook, and other investment analysis tools. This guide provides an overview of its use.
1. Begin by accessing the main database page from the Library homepage by selecting the "Articles & Databases" link:
2. Choose Standard and Poor's NetAdvantage (S&P) from the alphabetical list of databases:
3. To locate an Industry Survey, choose the "Industries" tab from the top:
4. Use the drop down menu to select the industry you are researching, for example "Restaurants":
5. The Industry Survey appears in the next screenshot. Use the link that is circled to make the Survey appear in its own window:
6. Use the links on the top left part of the screen to access different sections of the Industry Survey. The links on the top right hand part of the screen will display a variety of financial information about the industry and show how the top companies in the industry are ranked financially:
7. The following screenshot shows the Comparative Company Analysis in terms of "Revenues":
8. Searching for company profiles and information is easy as well. From S&P's main search page, use the tab at the top of the screen for "Companies":
9. Use the appropriate box and menus to search for a company by name, for example, "Ford":
10. Select the company from the following list:
11. Choose from the links on the left to access specific information on the company, such as Valuation, Financials, and Competitors:
12. Scroll down on the screen to obtain the Company Fact Sheet:
