How to Find Journals or Newspapers by Title

Note: If you are beginning your article search, please see the How do I find articles? guide. If, however, you already have a citation for an article and you want to find out how to access that article, or if you simply want to browse a certain journal, this guide will help you.

1. From the Library homepage, click on the "Journals and Newspapers" link:

2. Type the title of the journal you are looking for (ex. New York Times, Journal of Learning Disabilities, etc.) in the space provided, or browse alphabetically. Click "Search":

3. If Proctor Library subscribes to this journal, you will see a record similar to this one:

4. If 0 records are found, the Library does not subscribe to this journal. To get a copy of the article you need, order it through Interlibrary Loan.

5. On the journal's record, choose an option that includes the dates you need. Each database will carry the journal in full-text for different dates. Note: If you see a link for "Proctor Library Periodical Holdings", the Library carries this journal in either print, microform, or bound format. Click on the link to see in which format the journal is held:

6. Once you have chosen a database, you will be taken to a screen like this one where you can choose the issue you would like to view. Remember that each database will have its own look, but the features will be similar. Choose the issue you would like to view:
